Alright, so we know what you’re thinking: Where did 661Arts go?
Right?? We were thinking the same thing.
ANYWAY, we’re back, but we’re making some changes – hence, the current bare, and minimal (but oh-so-pretty) site layout. So, hang tight and expect to see some consistent updates in the very near future.

Artists using a variety of medium including photography, paint, multimedia, etc. are encouraged to submit existing or new works based on the theme, “Watch Art! Create Art! Art and music patrons are in for a big treat on Sunday, March 29, 2009, from 2-6 PM as the annual benefit of the Santa Clarita Creative Guild unfolds at the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia entitled, Love is in the Air at the Hyatt Valencia. This year’s spring event promises to be even bigger with more fine artists participating! There will be a “Public Choice Awards” for the three top choices.
A lot of community energy is being infused from all angles to make the event a great success. Another big treat for the patrons will be the much-awaited Love concert from the “Back on Track” local music group with their farewell performance before they leave for their Asian tour in spring. The threesome of Gary Friedman, Bary Lederman, & Mary Courtney will serenade art patrons with their jazz, folk, and contemporary songs, while local duo of Sheila Colby and Dezzi Rae Marshall belt out their broadway and popular tunes. Refreshments will be served, with a no-host bar.
The Art Show will feature paintings, sculptures, arts/craft, and other forms of visual art. While the exhibit is going on, three outstanding local artists, Lorelle Miller, Laura Wambsgans and Romeo Downer will feature a live artist exhibition. On the other side of the ballroom is a Youth Art Exhibit for our budding artists, to be presented by Mission Renaissance. Not to be outdone is the much-awaited yearly Silent Auction featuring art and non-art items.
The event will benefit various Art Enrichment Programs of the Guild, geared for the SCV Youth and the SCV Senior Center. Likewise, another objective is to be able to promote local artists in the community. Many of the participating artists are members of the Santa Clarita Artists Association, who is a sponsor of the event.Tickets are now on sale at $25 (prepaid) and $40 at the door.

Artists of the Santa Clarita Valley are invited to submit work for an upcoming exhibit in City Hall. The show is titled “Visions of Santa Clarita: Where the Good Life Takes You,” (Say, does anyone actually know what that tagline means?) and will be installed in the hallway of the ground floor – a.k.a. the “First Floor Gallery.” This is the very first time the hallway has been opened up for the display of artwork by local artists, and the community will see many more exhibits as Jeff Barber at the City works to fill the space in coming months. The PDF is not on their site, but you can grab one here.
