The Santa Clarita Master Clorale will be jubilent next month. Not that they are not happy normally – they are very happy all of the time, especially when everyone shows up to hear them perform. It’s just that on October 18th at 7:00pm at the Valencia United Methodist Church, they will be especially glad to welcome the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers to perform in a fundraising concert. Led by LA native Albert John Joseph McNeil, this internationally known group of 29 singers will revive and lift your spirit. Visit www.scmasterchorale.com for more information. CalArts Back in Session

24700 McBean Parkway is pretty quiet during the Summer. The halls are quiet as music students who normally practice marimba or sax spend time at work and play back home. Parking is a breeze. Some art students remain to work in their studios, and except for a few weeks of high school summer school kids (CSSSA), there is peace. The walls get painted and the floors get waxed, and the guy who fills the vending machine gets a well deserved break. And then, they return to class beginning with a ritual called Walk-Around Registration. They could probably just use computers to do this, but it would not look nearly as cool. See here.

Outstanding work includes sculpture and painting by art professor Robert Walker, whose multi-colored and layered pieces make even grown-ups want to touch and play with them. But don’t, for you will surely be sent to time out by your daddy.
